Running Google Local Services Ads (Google Guaranteed)? Here Is How To Dispute Your Unqualified Leads…

Google Guaranteed/Google Local Services Ads are a great way to jump start your carpet cleaning business, or fill holes in your schedule. While the lead prices can be higher than other sources, the customers are generally well qualified, ready to book and looking for a cleaning service in the near future. 

But every once in a while you might receive a lead from Google Local Services Ads that is outside of your service area, or is asking about a service that you don’t provide. I’ve even seen accounts that got charged for people calling in to ask “are you hiring?” That’s not a lead you want to pay for…

Did you know you can dispute your Local Services Ad leads under certain conditions? Those conditions include:

• Service you don’t provide
• Location you don’t serve
• Wrong number or sales call (not a customer)
• Spam or bot (not a human)
• Customer contacted you more than once
• Customer looking for a different business

What steps do I need to take?

Here are the steps you can take to dispute leads that you don’t feel you should have been charged for:

1. Log into your Google Local Services Ads account
2. On your dashboard, click on the lead you’d like to dispute
3. On the lead information page, add notes in the customer notes field to describe what happened (out of service area, asking if you are hiring, etc)
4. Click on the three dots at the top-right and click on ‘dispute’
5. Click on why you are disputing the lead, and click ‘submit’

 What happens next?

Google will review your information and follow up with you in a few days to either accept or deny your dispute. If they accept your dispute, it may take a few weeks to a few months to credit your account. Note that Google won’t refund you, but they will credit your account for future Google Local Services Ads leads.

Was your dispute denied?

Google uses an automated system to briefly investigate, and it isn’t always correct. If you feel you shouldn’t have been charged, you can call Local Services Ads support at 1-833-272-1444 to escalate your dispute.

Let the representative know that you disputed a lead, your dispute was denied, but that you believe the lead should in fact be credited to your account. Try to remain pleasant and professional, and you’ll have a better chance of success working with the customer support team.

If they still deny your dispute, unfortunately there is not a way to escalate further.
