The Key to Scaling Your Cleaning Business: Getting Found on Google

March 22, 20243 min read

Are you a cleaning business owner looking to expand your operations and attract more customers? Growing a cleaning business, particularly in its early stages, presents many challenges. Building connections with potential customers and establishing a strong reputation as the go-to cleaner are critical for growth. With the right strategies in place, these challenges can be overcome.

In this blog post, we'll explore a game-changing strategy that can elevate your cleaning business to new heights: optimizing your presence so you can get found more often on Google.

Leveraging the Power of Google

One of the ways to grow your business is by tapping into Google’s powerful platform. This allows cleaning businesses to be found by potential customers looking for cleaning services, while showcasing their cleaning services. We don’t just mean by running Google Ads or being Google Guaranteed; Google Business Profile, Google Maps and YouTube are all parts of the Google universe used by people looking for cleaning services, and are free to use.

Google Business Profile is an especially useful tool - if you keep your business information up to date, post regularly, and get as many reviews as you can, Google will show your profile over other cleaners in your area.

Unleashing the Potential of Paid Google Ad Platforms

If you are already using the free areas of Google to their maximum potential, it’s time to level up and start running Google Ads to maximize your company’s growth.

An easy starting point is Google Local Service Ads (LSAs), sometimes called Google Guaranteed. This will put you at the top of the page when potential customers search for the cleaning service you offer in your local area. You only get charged when the customer reaches out to you, and the requirements to join the program are pretty low (have at least 3 reviews on Google, pass a background check, and have liability insurance). Pro-tip: Google LSA customers are usually looking for availability in the near future, so it’s a great way to fill up your schedule if you have spots open this week. If you don’t have short-term availability, we’d recommend turning your budget down or pausing LSAs.

Google Ads are another great way to get in front of customers looking for cleaning services in their area. These ads are a pay per click model, meaning you get charged when a potential customer clicks on your ad. Generally these ads cost less than LSAs, and are great for when you want to fill your schedule long term. They can be tricky to get right, so we recommend finding an experienced digital marketing partner to set them up and run them for you. Pro-tip: while turning LSAs on and off as you have availability is fine, don’t do this with Google Ads - your results may not be the same when you turn them back on!

Continuing to Grow Your Company

As your cleaning business grows, be sure to keep focusing on customer satisfaction and providing high-quality cleaning services. By actively engaging with Google’s platform you can continue to increase your visibility, putting your cleaning business in front of even more potential customers. Asking for reviews, following search engine optimization (SEO) best practices, and posting on your Google Business Profile are all excellent ways to engage with Google. Staying updated on digital marketing trends and Google changes are also essential steps towards achieving your growth goals.

If you're determined to expand your cleaning business, consider adopting the strategies outlined in this blog post. Create a strong online presence, implement Google Ads, and witness the remarkable growth of your cleaning business. With dedication, strategic planning, and a commitment to excellence, the possibilities for your cleaning business are limitless.
