Planning For Success In Your Carpet Cleaning Business (You Can’t Thrive Without THIS!)

August 15, 20233 min read

These days it isn’t enough to just be really good at carpet cleaning - you also need to have a well defined growth plan in order to succeed in the highly-competitive cleaning industry. It’s just like Benjamin Franklin said: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

Here at BookCleaningJobs, we talk a lot about the GROWTH 🚀 plans we offer. These are the plans we’ve built and implemented for our clients to grow their business and take it to the next level.

While we provide these for our clients, it’s important for all businesses to have a growth plan of their own - regardless of if you are just getting started or have been in business for the last 20 years. This plan will serve as your compass, helping you figure out how to successfully grow your business.

What kind of things should you include in the growth plan for your business?

  • Marketing Strategy: Your marketing strategy should cover a couple of key channels:

    • Organic traffic: Do you have a website? Is your Google Business Profile filled out? Are you doing SEO?

    • Paid traffic: Google Ads, Local Service Ads (Google Guaranteed) or Facebook Ads - do you have plans to do any of these?

    • Social media: Posting online can be an important way for customers (and search engines) to know you are a real business that is running. What platforms will you be posting on? What kind of content are you going to share? (Hint: we’ve created a social media swipe file that you can find here to make this easy for you!)

    • Offline or traditional media: Things like postcards, door hangers, magazine advertising, radio and broadcast TV, and even door-knocking & “5-arounds” fall into this category.

  • Lead Response Strategy: Responding to leads in a prompt manner can significantly impact your business’s success. When potential customers reach out to you, how are you responding to them? Are you responding to every lead? How quickly?

The longer you wait to respond, the fewer bookings you’ll get! In fact, the value of a lead diminishes by 80% in the first 5 minutes. That means if you wait more than 5 minutes to call somebody back, you’ve reduced your chances of booking the job by about 80%... YIKES!

    PRO TIP:
Using copy & paste email response templates or “scripts” is a great hack to get those response times up.

  • Follow Up Strategy:

    • Reviews: In today’s digital age, the power of online reviews cannot be underestimated. Did you know that 98% of consumers have read a local business review in the past year (source: BrightLocal)? Your growth plan should include your strategy for getting reviews, and responding to them (both positive and negative).

    • Referrals: Referrals are an incredible way to get more clients - but you have to ask for them! How are you planning to do this?

    • Asking for the next appointment: Are you periodically reaching out to your past customers at the 6 or 11 month time period to ask them if they are ready to book their next appointment? How will you do this (email, postcard, phone call)?
