Maximizing Success: How Cleaners Can Collaborate With Their Marketing Agency

Maximizing Success: How Cleaners Can Collaborate With Their Marketing Agency

September 22, 20233 min read

Hiring a marketing agency is a big step for a growing carpet cleaning company - but a lot of cleaners are hesitant to work with agencies (or they’ve been burned in the past). You might have questions like… how do I know the agency will be a good fit for my business? Will they be successful in helping grow my business? What if they don’t listen to me?

Here at BookCleaningJobs, we’ve helped hundreds of carpet cleaners grow their business. Our most successful clients follow these guidelines, and their businesses have grown because of it:

  1. Clear Communication: Effective communication is the foundation of any successful partnership. When you start your partnership with your marketing agency, share your goals, expectations, and what makes your business unique. This allows your agency to tailor their strategy to your business’s specific needs. If you need to make strategy changes, be sure to be clear in what your goals are so they can be implemented correctly. Example: “I’d like to win more upholstery cleaning jobs, can we add upholstery cleaning ads to my Google Ads account? How much extra budget should I add to support this?”

  2. Set Realistic Goals: Advertising your carpet cleaning company on platforms like Google and Facebook Ads isn’t a get rich quick scheme - expecting results that aren’t achievable will only lead to disappointment and dissatisfaction. Make sure that you understand what is reasonable given what your ad spend is, and what your market looks like.

  3. Trust the Experts: Your marketing agency is staffed with professionals who understand the intricacies of digital marketing. We also have experience working in (and owning/operating) cleaning companies. You can trust our expertise to set the strategy and tell you what is feasible.

  4. Invest Adequately: Effective marketing requires financial commitment. Carpet cleaners should be prepared to allocate a reasonable budget to their marketing efforts. Low-cost options aren’t always better - would you get better results with a Rug Doctor or state-of-the-art carpet cleaning equipment? The same can be said for marketing…

  5. Don’t Expect to Buy All of Your Leads: Google Ads or LSAs aren’t the only way you should be getting leads. You’ll be much more successful if you are also incorporating SEO, referrals, and even social media. Pro tip: Need help with ideas on what to post on your social media? 6. Send Photos/Videos Frequently: Google rewards having actual photos on your website and Google Business Profile instead of stock photos, as well as freshness of content. Build taking before/after photos into your cleaning process, and send the best ones to your agency! These can be used on your website, social media, Yelp, etc.

  7. Be Patient: Rome wasn't built in a day, and successful marketing strategies often take time to show significant results. Once you have a good marketing strategy in place, don’t completely rip it apart and start over every month. Some platforms like Google Ads don’t react well to constant changes, so making daily or weekly tweaks will backfire on you. Instead seek to find a marketing strategy that works for you, then make small tweaks over a long period of time while slowly increasing your marketing budget as your cleaning business grows.

By following these guidelines, you’ll have a successful relationship with your marketing agency that will help you stand out in a competitive market, reach your target audience, and ultimately grow your business.
